This year marked our fifth year partnering with Peak Refuel and Chad Mendes, and we went bigger than ever. What started half a decade ago as a fun experiment in branded storytelling has grown into one of the most beloved yearly skits with Chad. Year five brought the return of the Bison Ranch Mashers and, with it, an ambitious five part teaser series built around a simple but irresistible premise, Chad developing a full blown obsession with potatoes. Each teaser dropped without explanation, building curiosity and momentum week after week, until the official launch when everything finally clicked into place, and the audience got the answer they had been waiting for.
This campaign was chock full of humor, heart, and genuine character. Chad brings everything he has to every frame, the athlete, the hunter, the family man, and honestly, one of the funniest people we get to continuously work with. Eight videos total, one cohesive story, and a community that has been along for the ride long enough to feel every payoff. Campaigns like this get me soooo excited, and we could not be more proud of what we have built together year after year.

Why is Chad so obsessed with potatoes all of a sudden?! These teasers were a blast to make. It kicked off with Chad very seriously hanging a giant framed poster of a potato on his wall like he just brought home a Picasso. From there, we had him losing his mind in his garden trying to grow his own potatoes. When he can’t get the potatoes he really wants, he takes matters into his own hands and decides to scope out a farm like it was the most important hunt of his career. But the one we had the most fun making was the heist. Chad sprinting across a dirt field with armfuls of potatoes, yelling at Skid Mark to start the truck, the bed already overflowing, a farmer chasing them down from behind, and potatoes bouncing off the tailgate as they floored it out of there. The whole thing was ridiculous and cinematic and completely chaotic, and we would not have it any other way.
Take a look at some of the fun behind the scenes we snagged for this one. Tons of work went into this production. We had a blast writing the script, producing, directing, filming, editing, casting, and finding all the incredible locations. As you can see, if you’re not having fun, then you’re doing it wrong!
